The Charleston personal injury lawyers with Hopkins Law Firm are proud to debut the firm’s new One Law Away From Justice Scholarship. This scholarship asks undergraduate and graduate students to consider what law they most want to change and why. Applicants have the opportunity to win $2,500 to dedicate toward their continuing education.
Students have until February 15, 2026, to complete their applications. Students must submit complete application forms as well as essays that meet the following requirements to be considered for the One Law Away From Justice Scholarship. Hopkins Law Firm cannot accept incomplete applications at this time.
Application Requirements
Before applying for the One Law Away From Justice Scholarship, students need to make sure that they meet Hopkins Law Firm’s qualifying criteria. All applicants must be enrolled at or accepted at an accredited college, university, trade school, or graduate program within the United States, and applicants must agree to the scholarship’s terms and conditions.
Students must also complete the essay detailed below. Applicants need to include their essay in PDF format along with the form on this page if they want the scholarship selection committee to consider them for Hopkins Law Firm’s $2,500 award.
Scholarship Essay Topic
Hopkins Law Firm asks that students applying for the One Law Away From Justice Scholarship write an original essay of no more than 1,000 words answering the following question:
- If given the opportunity to change any law, which one would you pick and why?
Students’ essays should include a catchy title, a bibliography as appropriate, and in-line citations. Students should save their essays as PDFs under the following naming convention: “[Scholarship Name and Year] – [Student Name].” Students should also include headers detailing:
- Their full name
- Their student ID number
- The name of their academic institution
- The address and email address of their school’s financial aid office
- The phone number of their financial aid office
Finally, Hopkins Law Firm asks that students craft unique and original essays addressing the scholarship prompt. Students who use AI to generate their essays wholesale will not qualify for the One Law Away From Justice Scholarship.
Application Deadline
Students have until February 15, 2026, to complete their applications and submit them for the scholarship selection committee’s consideration. Unfortunately, the team cannot consider applications submitted after this deadline passes.
Students should make sure that they’ve included all of their essential materials in their application packets before finalizing their submissions. The team will not consider applications without all of their appropriate paperwork.
The scholarship selection committee reserves up to three months to choose its winner after the scholarship deadline passes. Please don’t reach out to Hopkins Law Firm during this time. The team cannot answer questions about the status of a student’s application or the process of selecting a scholarship winner.
Terms and Conditions
All applicants to this scholarship must meet the eligibility requirements as laid out on the scholarship application page, including:
- Applicant must be enrolled at a college, trade school, university, or graduate school.
- Applicant must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment.
- Applicant must have residency in the United States.
- Applicant must be in good academic standing.
- Applicant must submit some personal information, including name, contact information, and academic information.
- Applicant must author an original essay on the scholarship topic provided.
Anyone who meets the following conditions is NOT eligible to apply:
- Employees or children of employees of Hopkins Law Firm
- Past recipients of the One Law Away From Justice Scholarship
- Applicants who are unable/unwilling to be interviewed by a representative of Hopkins Law Firm, if they were to be awarded a scholarship.
- Applicants who submit the same essay for multiple scholarships or for multiple years in a row
Selection and Award Notification Process
Age, race, religion, gender, national origin, familial status, or other protected classes will have no influence on the committee’s decision. The scholarship selection committee with Hopkins Law Firm will select its scholarship winner based on academic merit and adherence to the essay prompt.
A representative will reach out to the scholarship’s winning student to ensure their funds reach the student’s institution of choice. Unfortunately, the team cannot contact non-winners at this time. Again, please do not contact Hopkins Law Firm with questions about a winner’s qualifications or the winner selection process.
